2023 Outdoor Living Space Trends
Hello & Welcome! Depending on your location, you may be just getting ready to embrace the warmer season approaching or consistently enjoy the sunnyside. Whatever the case, it is time that I share with you the outdoor trends for the summer of 2023. Let's get into these trends!
Outdoor Kitchens and Dining Area
Yes, this has made it to this year's list as well. This trend has become increasingly popular as homeowners look to maximize their outdoor living spaces. An outdoor kitchen and dining area can be a great way to entertain guests and enjoy meals outside during summer. Some popular features of outdoor kitchens include built-in grills, refrigerators, sinks, and storage cabinets. Dining areas may consist of outdoor tables, chairs, and even a pergola or shade structure to provide relief from the sun.
Sustainable Landscaping
Sustainable landscaping practices have been gaining popularity in recent years. This trend involves using native plants and other environmentally friendly practices, such as rainwater harvesting and composting, to create an eco-friendly outdoor space. Native plants are typically easier to care for and require less water, making them an excellent option for homeowners looking to reduce their water usage. Other sustainable landscaping practices include using permeable paving materials to reduce stormwater runoff and installing rain gardens to help filter and clean the water before it enters local waterways.
Outdoor Living Rooms
Outdoor living rooms are a great way to create a cozy and inviting atmosphere in your outdoor space. This trend involves creating a comfortable seating area with sofas, chairs, tables, rugs, lighting, and other décor to make the space feel like an extension of your indoor living room. Some homeowners install outdoor televisions and sound systems to make their outdoor living rooms a true entertainment destination.
Fire Features
Fire features such as fire pits, fireplaces, and outdoor heaters are a popular trend that can add warmth and ambiance to your outdoor living space. Fire pits and fireplaces are great for gathering on cool summer evenings. Outdoor heaters can extend your outdoor living season into the cooler fall months. Depending on your preference and local regulations, fire features can be fueled by wood, gas, or propane.
Smart Outdoor Technology
Smart home technology has many options for controlling and automating your outdoor lighting, sound systems, and other features. This trend involves installing Smart devices such as outdoor speakers, lighting, and security cameras. These features can be controlled through your smartphone or voice assistant like Siri or Alexa. Homeowners even install outdoor televisions and sound systems that can be controlled through their Smart home system, allowing them to enjoy movies and music outside.
These are just a few things trends to consider this summer. I have five more to share next time, so stay tuned. Until then, consider incorporating some of these trends in your outdoor design.
